Choose the best dye to change the base tone of your hair

We have seen how different celebrities change the color of their hair so easily and it looks great
on them. This is not so complicated to achieve, you just have to know very well the correct way
to do it to get the desired results, and in our post, we will explain it to you. Manufacturers of the
most recognized dye brands, from time to time, update or renew their color chart with the colors
they have available, thus eliminating some and including new ones. Generally, these dyes can
work without problems on natural hair and can be combined with balayage, Californian, and
even bronde highlights. This year, there are new trends in shades that, as soon as they come
onto the market, celebrities immediately popularize them.

Ways to change hair color

Whether you want to change your look or because the first gray hairs have already started to
appear, you can apply any of these techniques:

  •  Permanent coloring, or as it is also known, “dyeing”, is the method that ensures 100%
coverage of grey hair and a drastic change of style. They usually contain a large amount
of ammonia and oxidant in their composition, which is what will ensure that the color can
be fixed in the hair and, in addition, it does not fall out so easily with washing.
    ● Tone-on-tone coloring: This technique can cover the gray hairs that are beginning to
appear, but unfortunately it does not make any major changes to the natural color of the
hair. It will only slightly darken the base tone.
    ● Non-permanent colouring: This method provides shine and highlights, but does not
cover grey hair well. It does not contain ammonia or oxidants and, for this reason, it
fades very quickly with each wash. This is ideal for women who are always changing
their looks and trying out new shades.
    ● Bleaching: If you want to lighten your hair, you will need to use at least 4 shades lighter
than your original hair color. Once the bleach has been applied, your hair should be
almost white and you can then apply the new desired shade.
    ● Highlights: This is a technique in which only some strands or parts of the hair are
bleached, and then the hair is dyed with the desired color. It is one of the least damaging
    ways to change your look.

Coloring according to the natural tone of your hair

You should know that there are shades of dye that will not look the way you want if your hair is
dark, that is, the result will depend on your natural color. So, if your natural color is:

  •  Pink blonde: you can make a change by applying a summery coral tone, which will
    flatter your skin tone.
    ● Dirty blonde: a platinum color is ideal for this natural tone, it will make you change
    completely.
    ● Platinum blonde: If you have this color, a pink blonde would look great on you.
    ● Chestnut: You can try changing to bronde, which you can also combine with golden
    highlights to illuminate your face.
    ● Copper: You can use your natural reddish tone to add some soft caramel highlights.
    ● Black: You will have a complete turnaround in terms of changes if you apply a violet
tone, as it will add incredible flashes and nuances to your hair.
    ● Mahogany: For this natural tone, a dark chocolate base looks great and you can even
add some light with ginger-colored Californian highlights.

Tips to maintain hair dye

Once you have chosen the ideal shade for your hair and have applied it, it is time to maintain it.
Remember that, as the days go by, your original color will begin to come out and the contrast
can be noticed, so follow these tips:

Avoid the sun

Ultraviolet rays are one of the external agents that cause the most damage to hair and skin,
especially in summer, when it comes out in all its splendor and its rays tend to be stronger. So, if
you combine bleaching or dye chemicals with the sun’s rays, the result will be brittle and weak
hair.
Also, water from the beach and the pool can damage your hair, which is why it is best to use a
special sunscreen for your hair.

Don’t wash it so often

You should only wash your hair when necessary, as the colour may fade. So, try to keep the
washing time as short as possible and use a protective shampoo. Also, try to be able to wring or
dry your hair as quickly as possible after washing it.

The right shampoos

Ideally, you should use shampoos suitable for dyed hair. The components added to their formula
prevent the dye pigments from separating from your hair. On the market, there are shampoos
and conditioners with pigments that collaborate and enhance the color of the dyes.

Don’t overuse irons

Frequently exposing your hair to high-heat devices can seriously damage your hair, and will also
end up ruining your color and making it dull. If you need to use it, it would be a good idea to
apply a heat protector first.
